client case study

Global manufacturing company and Sans Prejudice Solutions

Client:

A leading global manufacturing company with over 13,000 employees operating in multiple countries, specialising in the production of aluminum and associated products.

Overview:

The client, a major player in the manufacturing sector, faced challenges with its complex Management Operating System (MOS), which had evolved over the years. Originally inspired by Toyota manufacturing principles, the system had become cumbersome, and its effectiveness had diminished. Seeking to modernize its MOS, the client aimed to create a simpler, purpose-driven framework that would cater to the evolving workforce of the future.

Problem:

The client’s existing MOS was overly complex and lacking in alignment with its strategic goals. The company recognized the need for a framework that would enhance psychological safety, employee engagement, and strategic alignment across global operations.

Approach/scope:

Sans Prejudice Solutions partnered with the client to design and deliver the MOS modernisation process, focusing on several key initiatives:

Global staff engagement

Issued an open invitation to all employees worldwide, resulting in over 500 volunteers from various departments contributing to the modernisation effort.

Inclusive lessons learned workshops

Organised workshops with 250 participants to gather insights from past experiences, identifying priorities and strategic focus areas centered on inclusive design.

Collaborative co-design workshop

Conducted an intensive five-day co-design session in Montreal, bringing together representatives from four continents to collaboratively shape the modernisation framework.

Strategic element definition

Developed eight strategic components for the MOS that incorporated practices of psychological safety and inclusive design, ensuring a sustainable and people-centered approach.

Key outcomes:

1. Broad employee engagement

The initiative saw strong participation, with over 500 employees worldwide actively contributing to the modernisation efforts. This inclusivity fostered a sense of ownership and commitment among staff.

2. Key priorities identified

Insights gathered from the inclusive workshops led to the definition of strategic focus areas that would guide the modernisation process, ensuring relevance to employee needs and expectations.

3. Collaborative framework

The co-design workshop resulted in a cohesive and culturally aware MOS framework, integrating diverse perspectives that bridged the gaps between global operations.

4. Psychological safety embedded

By incorporating psychological safety principles into the new framework, the client fostered a workplace culture where trust, collaboration, and innovation could thrive.

Functions performed:

Change management and communication

Managed global communications to maintain transparency and encourage ongoing engagement throughout the modernisation process.

Facilitation and moderation

Led cross-cultural sessions, ensuring diverse voices were heard and fostering meaningful collaboration across different time zones.

Advocacy for inclusion

Advocated for and embedded psychological safety principles into the new MOS framework, enhancing the overall organisational culture.

By collaborating with Sans Prejudice Solutions, the client successfully modernised its Management Operating System into a forward-thinking framework that empowers its workforce and lays a solid foundation for sustainable growth in the future.
